Africa50: Infrastructure Investment and Project Development in Africa

Africa50 is a pan-African infrastructure investment platform set up by the African Development Bank and African governments. It both develops projects from an early stage and invests equity in infrastructure that is ready to build or already operating.
It focuses on large projects — power, transport, digital, water and gas — and works mainly with governments and established sponsors through public-private partnerships.
Two ways Africa50 invests
Project development: Africa50 takes early-stage risk and co-develops projects with governments and sponsors to reach financial close. Project finance: it invests equity, usually tens of millions of dollars, in larger infrastructure assets alongside other investors.
How to approach Africa50
Before making contact, have a one-page summary ready: what the project is, where it is, how much you need and in what form (loan, equity, grant), what you have already raised, and the climate or development impact you can measure.
Match your ask to the funder's real ticket size and instruments. Most rejections come from asking the wrong funder for the wrong thing — for example asking a lender for a small grant, or an equity investor for early feasibility money.
