ElectriFI: EU Funding for Energy Access and Mini-grid Companies
42 matching capital sources on the ASFIP database · Last checked October 2026
ElectriFI (the Electrification Financing Initiative) is an EU-funded investment facility for companies and projects that expand access to clean electricity in developing countries. It is managed by EDFI Management Company.
ElectriFI is useful for developers that are too early or too small for most DFIs: it provides early-stage loans, mezzanine and equity to mini-grid, off-grid solar, distributed renewable and similar businesses, often to unlock later commercial finance.
What ElectriFI finances
Investments typically range from about €500,000 to €10 million. Country windows and regional programmes run alongside the global facility, sometimes with their own calls for proposals.
How to apply
ElectriFI accepts proposals through its online platform, either during calls or on a rolling basis. Prepare company financials, a project pipeline, and a clear explanation of how the investment expands energy access.
